Anatahan Update
HVO-CNMI has lowered the status of Anatahan to Green/Normal:
Anatahan Information Release issued Oct 12, 2007 09:22 MPT Volcanic-Alert Level NORMAL - Aviation Color Code GREEN
Report Prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey. Seismic activity at Anatahan has been at or near background since October 1 and USGS is lowering the aviation color code to GREEN and the alert level to NORMAL. Some gas emission and steaming may still occur. During more northerly winds, the Anatahan plume will be blown towards CNMI and Guam and may be experienced as a sulfur-scented haze. The Emergency Management Office (EMO) of the CNMI government will issue a volcanic haze and sulfur advisory when appropriate. Access to the island may be restricted by the CNMI government.
